Proposed Plan for ORM
The proposed plan to allow for an improved use of the property and better control of access to the museum grounds while providing improved display areas, activity areas, office area with meeting rooms, new additional restrooms and separates the work areas from the museum functions better for safety purposes.

Farmrail Motor Car trip Nov. 19-20, 2011

Farmrail Railroad
The Oklahoma Railway Museum is sponsoring a two day motorcar ride on Farmrail Railroad, November 19-20, 2011. The trip on Saturday will be from Clinton, OK west on the former Rock Island Line to Sayre, OK and return. The Trip on Sunday will be on the former Santa Fe Line from Sentinel, OK south to Altus and return. Set on for Saturday will begin at 8:00 A.M .in Clinton, safety briefing at 8:50 A.M. at the Farmrail shops. Set on Sunday is 9:00 A.M. in Sentinel, OK with Safety Briefing at 9:50 AM. This is a NARCOA insured event and NARCOA Rules apply. Total cost for the Farmrail trip is $70.00. Trip mileage on Saturday is approximately 104 miles round trip and on Sunday approximately 65 miles round trip. Detailed trip information will be available after September 6, 2011. For those interested in becoming members of the Oklahoma Railway Museum, Ltd., Central Oklahoma Chapter of the NRHS, memberships are available at the following rates:
- Regular Membership – $36.00 per year (spouse included)
- Senior Member (Retired) – $30.00 per year (age 65 and up) (spouse included)
- Student Member (Full-Time Student) – $30.00 per year.
- Lifetime Member – $500.00
National Railway Historical Society dues are $36.00 per year (Spouses are an additional $5.00). (Student memberships are $16 each.) NRHS can change dues without notice

ORM/NARCOA Motor Car event 10/15/2011

Arkansas-Oklahoma Railroad
McAlester, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Railway Museum (ORM) will host a trip on the Arkansas-Oklahoma Railroad (A-OK) from McAlester, OK traveling Eastward on the ex-Rock Island Railroad trackage that A-OK operates to Red Oak, Ok and then return. Total mileage will be 92 miles round Trip. Set on will begin at 8:00AM in McAlester, OK on 5th Street Crossing between E. Choctaw Ave. and E. Chickasaw Ave. Departure will be at 9:00AM. The cost will be $40.00. Excursion Coordinator is Drake Rice. Requirements: Must be a member of NARCOA and ORM and have a valid NARCOA insurance card and operator’s certificate required. NARCOA Rulebook 6.5 in effect for this event. For complete ride information will be available after September 6th. Contract EC Drake Rice at the above e-mail.

Loss of a great friend
John Donald Ansell, 70 of Midwest City died Monday, August 8, 2011. John was born November 19, 1940 in Fairchance, PA, the son of Joseph Ansell and Alice Moore. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sabra Cherrill Ansell; son, Craig and his wife, Susan and their children, Garrett, Cooper and Stephanie; son, Derek and wife Andrea and their children, Stephanie and husband David Bailey and daughter Aubrey, Jessica and husband Jamin Moses and son Jude, and Caleb; daughter, Sabra Gadberry and husband, Derek and their sons, Ryan and Jason; son, Chad and wife Reagan and their children, Summer, Justin and Tristan; daughter, Carmen Funderburk and husband, David and their children, Cydnie, Megan, Samuel, Lydia and Asher. John served his country in the United States Air Force, worked for several railroads including Rock Island and Sante Fe, and retired from the City of Midwest City water department. He was acting National Director from Oklahoma for the National Railway Historical Society, a volunteer Conductor/Engineer for the Oklahoma Railway Museum and Midland Railway in Kansas. He was awarded Presenter of the Year three times for Operation Life Saver. John was an avid blood donor and donated tissue to LifeShare after his death.
